| Teachers Day Celebration 05.09.2009 |
Students of RMKRS showed all their love and respect to their teachers by celebrating Teachers’ Day, 2009 with great pomp and show. Students of class X took the initiative to celebrate the day in a grand manner. All the teachers were honoured with a beautiful greeting card and a flower. The students conducted “cooking without fire - competition” for teachers. All the teachers enthusiastically participated in all the competitions. It was a memorable day to the teachers. |

| Childrens Day Celebration |
Children’s Day was celebrated in a grand
manner in our school. The day started
with a special assembly conducted by the
teachers. The secretary, Dean and the Academic
Coordinator were the special guests
and gave valuable messages of Children’s
Day celebrations of different countries of
the world.
Lots of fun games and competitions were
conducted for different categories. Special
lunch had been arranged in the afternoon
and the students had a TV show after lunch.
The children were made to enjoy the day
fully with various activities. They also had
an opportunity to pay homage to Jawaharlal
Nehru, the first Prime Minister whi was
loved by all the children. |

| CBSE SOUTH ZONE INTER SCHOOL TENNIS TOURNAMENT – 2009 – 2010

RMKRS took great delight in hosting the CBSE South Zone Interschool Tennis Tournament at SDAT Stadium, Nungambakkam between 2nd to 4th September, 2009. Players from Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu were part of it. After the formal inauguration, the programme started with a Prayer song and Dr. Sakunthala Nappoly, Dean of RMKRS delivered her welcome speech.
Dr.Albert Muthumalai, the principal of the esteemed Loyola College, Chennai presided over the celebrations. Mr.J.C.D Prabhakar, the vice president of Tamilnadu Chess Association had been the guest of honour for that day. Shri Yalamanchi Pradeep, the secretary of RMK Group of Institutions felicitated the guests of the day. At about 10am, after the oath taking the players were directed to their positions to commence the tennis tournament.
Closing Ceremony:
On the final day, the closing Ceremony of CBSE SOUTH ZONE INTER SCHOOL TENNIS TOURNAMENT 2009 – 2010” took place in a simple manner. After the prize distribution, Shri Yalamanchi Pradeep, the secretary of RMK Group of Institutions delivered his felicitation address in which he wished all the participants a grand future. All the participants parted with content heart. |

| Thiruvallur District Swimming Competiton – 01.09.2009 |
Recently, few of our students represented the Thiruvallur District Swimming Open Competition at Dolphin Swimming Pool – Mogappair. Although the competition was tough two of our students, Rupika of VII and Appeksha of VI brought pride to our school by winning 2 Gold medals. Vigneshwaran of class VI obtained a Silver medal in 25 metres Butterfly stroke, Deepak R & Gokul Kumar of VIII won a Bronze medal each, for 50m Backstroke and Breast Stroke. Thus with 2 Gold, 3 Silver, 3 Bronze and a grand total 8 medals, they made the School feel proud. |

| Literary Competitions – 01.08.2009 |
In the month of August an ‘Inter House Literary Competition’ was conducted to bring out the talents of the budding poets, creative writers and eloquent speakers of the school. The students participated with a lot of enthusiasm. There were participants from all the languages. The students contributed a lot to honour their houses with a good spirit of winning. The following were the activities conducted by the heads of the different departments.

| A Visit to Brick Kiln – 25.07.2009 |
On 25th, 24 students accompanied by social science teachers Mr. John Kennedy and Mr. Muthu went on a field trip to Brick Kiln at Ramapuram. The purpose of the visit was, part of students learning process of sectors of Economic activities. The visit gave an awareness to students to learn the reality of life. |

| Educomp – Smart Class Training – 09.07.2009 |
Recently, RMK Residential School has introduced an upgraded teaching method in tie with Educomp and has incorporated the smart class teaching modules which help the students find learning an outstanding experience. After introduction of smart class modules, the teachers also find teaching an exceptional experience.
The manager of Educomp solutions ltd Mr. Siddharth had arranged for a training session to all the teaching staff to introduce smart class teaching to get into the Smart Class teaching modules and to go about it”. There were two batches of teachers and the first session started around 9 am on 09.07.2009 and ended at 12 pm. The training was about ‘how to use the smart class teaching tool and the queries related to it. The second session was between 1 pm to 4 pm. Both the sessions successfully served their purpose of launching the teaching modules. |

| WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY CELEBRATION – 05.06.2009 |
“The world environment day” awareness programme was organised in our school on 5th July 2009. The house notice boards and a special board were decorated filled with pamphlets pictures, proverbs and new slogans insisting on a healthy world environment-awareness.
Our schoolchildren displayed a short skit to insist on protecting our environment. The concept was very simple and practical. Everyone enjoyed and learnt something more about world environment. |

| 23RD NATIONAL UNDER 9 BOYS AND GIRLS CHESS CHAMPIONSHIPS – 2009 INAUGURAL FUNCTION – 15.06.2009

RMK Residential School, Kavaraipettai was chosen as a venue to conduct the inaugural function of the 23rd National under 9 Boys and Girls Chess championship which was held on 15th June, 2009.
Mr. Prabhakar J C D, Chairman of the organizing committee delivered the welcome address, Mr. Sundar D V, Hon. Secretary, All India Chairman federation, Mr. R M Kishore, Vice – Chairman, Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust, Shri. Yalamanchi Pradeep, Secretary, Lakshmikanthammal Educational Trust and Smt. Durga Devi Pradeep, Vice Chairperson, RMK Group of Institutions rendered Felicitation Address. |

| Health Week - July 6th to 10th |
RMK Residential School recently observed ‘Health Week’ from July 6th to 10th, within the campus. It was conducted aiming at creating a good awareness on good health and importance of maintaining the same, among the students. Various activities like, motivating quizzes, elocution and debates based on maintaining good health, were organized by the department of science during the week.
Our students participated in the ‘Designer Wear – Jewellery’ competition, through which they exhibited their jewels made of grains, fruits and vegetables.
A debate on the topic “Which is good- A Balance diet or Supplementary diet?” was conducted and a suitable conclusion was adjudged on Balanced and Supplementary diet with their merits and demerits.
There was an elocution competition in English titled as ‘Water/Roughage – an important part of daily life’. Students from all four houses took part in all the activities exhibiting immense interests and innovative techniques. There was also an exhibition of ‘Components of food’ and the junior members of the school presented a Tabloid on ‘Table Manners’. There was also a ‘Little Chef’ presentation conducted on the values of good health.
The whole week was an excellent reminiscence in the minds of all participants and the spectators. |

| Max Academy Hand Writing Classes |
RMK Residential School has also made well-organized attempts to improve its students’ good handwriting.
RMKRS with the association of Max Academy (pioneer in the field has been conducting classes to bring about a good and beautiful handwriting to the students) has given handwriting training workshop for the students of classes IV to IX. Various aspects such as concept of writing, scientific aspects involved in it were taken into consideration. Other aspects like letter formation was an important factor and correction of wrong letter formation was dealt.
Writing with correct spelling, letter formation are not just enough. But, the legibility in writing and maturity in handwriting needs to be observed, which forms the basis of well presented paper when written with layout margin etc. Above all, the scientific aspects of pen and also holding of the pen, quality of pen etc are the details that were taught. |

| Excursion - Wild Tribe |
The 215 students of RMK Residential School from Classes III to VII and VIII – X made a visit to “Wild Tribe” - an entertainment zone at Andalkuppam village near Ponneri, in Thiruvallur District on 20.07.2009 and 21.07.2009.The principal and the staff members also accompanied the students. Children were overjoyed playing mad riding, shooting, Trampoline Jumping, Army style obstacle course etc on those two days.
The wild tribe conveners conducted a few mind-games. Our children actively took part in those games. Having enjoyed the fun and frolic, the children left the wild tribe campus, with cheerful mood. |

| Thiruvallur District Swimming Open Competition
July 23rd, 2009 |
Recently, the students from RMK Residential School represented the SDAT – Dolphin Swimming Academy for the Thiruvallur District Swimming Open Competition on the 23rd of July, 2009. Our students have brought laurels to their institution by winning remarkable positions and medals.
Deepak R of class VII won a Gold medal and a silver medal in 50m free style and 50 m Breaststroke, respectively. Gokul Kumar of Class VIII bagged a Gold and a Silver medal from 50 m Breast Stroke and 50 m free style, respectively. Likewise, Vineeth Kumar of Class VIII won a Gold and a Bronze medal in the open category. Sai Kumar of Grade VIII finished with 50 m Backstroke – bronze in the open category.
Thus, with 3 Gold, three silver and 3 bronze medals our students have made the school feel proud of them. |

| The Velammal Sports Festival - Swimming Competition |
From our prestigious RMK Residential School, a five set of students participated in the swimming competition organized by the Velammal International School during the Velammal Sports festivals, on July 25, 2009. The following were the medal winners in the same.
Deepak R of class VII, Vineeth Kumar of VIII, Devanand K of VII and Vigneswaran B of Class VI finished with a Bronze medal in the Under 12 category of 4X50 m Free Style relay.
Also, Gokul Kumar M of VIII, SaiBalaji of VIII, Feroz Khan IX and Sai Phani Surya of Grade IX bagged a Silver medal each in Under14, 4X50 m free Style relay in Swimming Competitions.
Our students thus won 4 silver and 4 bronze medals on the day. This remains a glorious attempt overall. |

| Report on Elocution Contest 25th July, 2009 |
Sethu Baskara Matriculation Higher Secondary School Ambattur, recently conducted ‘Veeramangai Velunachiar Memorial Elocution Contest’ in which 15 students from RMK Residential School participated. The students took part in English, Tamil and Hindi category and received certificates in all three categories. We appreciate all the participants and teachers who cooperated in this regard. |

The students of RMK Residential School took part in the District Level Athletic Competition convened by the Rotary Club, of Thiruvallur District on 3rd August 2009.
Master P.NandaKumar of class IX secured second place and finished with a silver medal in the 200 mts track within 26 seconds.
