Christmas Day Celebrations

On December 23rd, 2008 the Christmas celebrations was held in the RMK Residential School Assembly Hall which was decked with a Christmas tree and other festive gear. Students presented varied cultural programmes as part of the celebrations. The celebrations started with an opening prayer and Bible reading.  “A Christmas Carol” – a play written by Charles Dickens was enacted by students of the middle school bringing out the essence of Christmas.  The story emphasized on keeping the true spirit of Christmas throughout the year. The students of Primary School presented the Nativity play honoring the birth of Jesus and recollecting history.   A thought provoking Christmas message on love by our Dean was followed by a Dandia dance, which was performed by the girls in the middle school creating a merry mood. Our Principal and our Secretary blessed the students on this joyous occasion.  No Christmas celebration is complete without Santa, gifts and cakes – so Santa came down wishing the students a Merry Christmas with his gifts. The Christmas season is a magically special time and this celebration at RMK Residential School has truly made it special for the students.

Vedanthangal Visit

On 13.12.2008 all the students (111) of RMK Residential School along with all the staff members visited Vedanthangal, Birds Sanctuary.

Vedanthangal, Birds Sanctuary is the oldest in the country with a very unique history. Around 40,000 birds visit every season even though the area is only 29.56 Ha. Vedanthangal displays are of the most concentrated population of different species of birds in a compact area and thus an ornithologist’s paradise providing great opportunities for studies and observation on various aspects of both scientific and management interest.

The rainwater is the lifeline of the Vedanthangal Birds Sanctuary and the deciding factor for the visit of the migrating birds.  From October to March the Maximum numbers of birds are found here.  Our children saw the birds from the bund with the help of a telescope and binoculars without disturbing the birds from its habitat.  Children used the watch towers to facilitate better sighting of birds. On the whole the trip was memorable one.
